Numerology

Numerology is an ancient study of the supposed mystical relationship between numbers and the nature of physical objects and living things.

Early mathematicians such as Pythagoras believed numerology and numerological divination to be part of mathematics but it is now generally regarded as pseudoscience or quackery by most mathematicians in a similar way to the historical development of astronomy from astrology, and that of chemistry from alchemy.
